So, this past week has been hectic, wild and fun all at the same time! I’ve entered two short story writing competitions;one with The Daily Bookworm and one with Knightwatch Press!(keeping toes crossed – need fingers for typing!)
Have also been proofing what I’ve got written so far on my Asian Vampire with Narcolepsy novel and am working with my co-conspirator….I mean….co-collaborator on a zombie story called ‘Z-REGEN’ (Zombie Regeneration Project). That one I’m really enjoying because Charlotte and I have come up with a kind of unique layout which I am hoping everyone else will enjoy and appreciate as well! No, I will not spoil it with any ‘teasers’ at this time – but that doesn’t mean I won’t give out any ‘hints’ in the near future! *evil smirk plastered on my face*
My anthology, ‘Horrors & Occupational Hazards’ is in it’s second edits stage, and I can tell you that the stories in there may make you appreciate the current job you have now! There is a tale about a road crew who has a run-in with ‘visitors’ from the Past, a tale about a septic tank that gives up more than its usual load of waste, a telemarketer who gets more than he bargained for with one call, and ten other tales about jobs that take a twisted turn to the dark side. I will keep you informed on the release date of that little gem – In the mean time, be good to yourselves and pick up a book that will stimulate your mind, stir up your emotions or simply scare the livin’ daylights outta ya! Until next time, happy reading! 🙂
So, my blog today is a nod and bow to my fellow authors at JEA Press. I have read some truly remarkable stories these past few weeks and want to share them out with you all with real encouragement to get these stories and read them! Here’s my list from last week:
Sam Reese – ‘Immolation’ – a profound story; one I just was speechless after the last page.
Pete Clark – ‘Midnight Riders’ – a fun, historical romp very much along the lines of Monty Python.
TL Decay – ‘Random Scary Writings’ – a Zombie lovers mini treat. Great poems and short shorts.
Jim Goforth – ‘Plebs’ – Grindhouse horror at its best.
Anthology – ‘Holiday Horror’ – some great short stories from a whole slew of authors.
Lisamarie Lamb – ‘Fairy Lights’ – disturbing and fascinating at the same time.
These are just a few I’ve gotten to so far, and I highly recommend you also check out Sirens Call Publications for some incredible authors as well.
And don’t forget ‘yours truly’! check out my website:www.leapingunicornliterary.com for my already published gems!
Until next week, keep a book by your bed and a nightlight on….
My blog is a little late this week – actually Wednesday is more like half the week gone, and I do apologize. However, here it is and here I go – Still working on Asian Vamp story, though I’m now 59,000 or so words into it and still loving the direction. Also jumped in on another competition with Daily BookWorm and also with Knightwatch Press. Keeping my fingers in three different pies is a little exhausting but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Daily BookWorm theme is ghosts/hauntings so I whipped up a little story about a haunted SmartPhone. KnightWatch wants Nature gone amok and I happen to have a little ‘short’ called ‘Natures’ Turn’ which I am expanding and plan on submitting. Keeping in touch with my fellow authors and am going to the new writers group that my buddy, Sam Reese hooked me up with on Thursday evening. So, as you can all see, my life is filled with writing, writers and write on! (heeheehee) and it all happened to converge on TA DA! Wednesday! Have a great rest-of-the week and will blog again on Monday, should the Fates allow!
Monday just flew by. Had a ton of stuff going on at home, re-proofed my story, ‘Z-REGEN (Zombie Regeneration Project) with my co-author, Charlotte Morgan and went over the book covers she is designing as well. Talked to my bro in AZ for a minute and had two visitors, which, for us out here, it’s pretty unusual. One was my neighbor up the road who’s little Shih-Tzu disappeared on July 4th because of the fireworks. I sure hope they find the little guy and I told him I’d keep an eye open as well. Stray animals have a tendency to end up on our property – maybe because there’s an invisible sign that says “Kind Lady will feed and luv u” ? Anyway, that is why my blog is today….still plugging away at my Asian vamp story, proofing up my zombie story, waiting for 2nd edits for my 13 story anthology to be published, and working on a 3rd book for my ‘Searchers Inc’ series. The first book, ‘Rose & Steel’ is out and can be purchased in ebook or paperback at Amazon.com. The second book will (I’m shooting for!) be released around Christmas, as the story revolves around the holidays and that’s all I’m gonna say for now! *wink* Have a great week everyone, check out my website if you get a notion to, http://www.leapingunicornliterary.com and will blog again next week!
Work is still progressing on my Asian Vampire with Narcolepsy novel…up to 55,900 words and am liking the flow. Hats off to my buddy, Richard Burns in CA for the weapons info and to Claudia Zimarripa-Rodriguez for the Spanish sentences!
Just finished reading ‘Holiday Horror’ an anthology that was a solid little book and am now moving on to Sam Reeses’ ‘Immolation’. Should have it read by Sunday and will let y’all know what I thought then! I will also post a review, which I encourage everyone to do – PLEASE! It helps the author stay in the rankings and boosts their sales/exposure to the rest of the world!
I’m having family over for the fourth and am looking forward to good times! You all have a happy, safe and fun Fourth of July and will blog again soon!
