Hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas…now…back to blogging authors! :)

Today, I would like to focus on a solid family guy, a great chef who lives across the pond, and one very talented author! (One of these days, I’m going to row-boat across and taste test his food!)

Mark Woods has some pretty unique takes on horror – from sublime to right in your face, he is one I would recommend reading at any given time you would like a chill or three.

Below is his Amazon page from the UK, but don’t fret, fellow readers – you can find him in the good ol’ US of A Amazon.com as well!

Have a good day recuperating from this weekend’s Christmas festivities, and gear yourselves up for this weekend:  It’s NEW YEAR’S!

Take care, be well, stay safe and read often in this up-and-coming year!  🙂

Interview with Michelle Garza and Melissa Lason:

1. Our inspiration came from Melissa watching an interesting television show about how some people believe the Mayans actually migrated up into the southern parts of the United States and she thought it would be a unique idea for a story, of course being horror writers we had to make it bloody and creepy. We already had a interest in Mayan culture, but researched their mythology and found their depictions of the underworld and thought that was exactly what we wanted to do with the story, take a group of people and leave them in Xibalba, the Mayan equivalent of hell.

2. Our main characters are Wes and Alissa, both are kinds nerdy and very different than their traveling companions who are more like the prom queen and star football players in high school. Wes and Alissa are faced with traversing the darkness of Xibalba in an attempt to survive the torture there and being hunted by its malevolent denizens seeking to kill them.

3. This is a standalone…for now. It definitely could lead to a sequel or prequel and we won’t deny the pull to continue the story but for now it’s a stand alone.

Interview with KA Denver:

1. What is your inspiration for your novel?
That’s a funny one; The Guardians: Forest of Ancestors was inspired by a need to write a short story for Sam Gregory’s event BMR. After the short was published, I received a lot of encouragement from readers to expand it into a novel.
2. Who is your main character:
In this book, that would be Eli. He is a Warrior Witch and he has a unique set of abilities (I sound like Liam Neeson here from Taken lol)
3. Is it a series or a standalone?
When I began to expand Eli’s world I knew this wouldn’t be a standalone. This is a series, and each of the guys will have their own book to tell the story through their eyes… you never know, maybe Parker will have his point of view seen in one. Time will tell.

On the 7th day it’s Sharon L Higa:

Interview with Sharon L Higa:

1. What is your inspiration for your novel? My inspiration for the Novel, #6, was based on an actual event. Two men kidnapped, raped and murdered a nurse in Southern CA, where I lived over twenty years ago. They were not caught for the crime, as her body was not found until a year later in the Los Angeles National Forest. However, two years later, they were caught on burglary charges, and the younger of the two confessed to the murder with his partner. He claimed that he had to confess because he kept seeing her everywhere he looked. The police and psychiatrists put it down to guilt, but the idea instantly struck me: What if he really was seeing her ghost this whole time? Thus, the idea for the story was born, and eighteen years later, I wrote it.

2. Who is your main character? My main character, Ida Moreno, is a combination of both myself and my dearest friend. Ida’s personality, indomitable spirit and crazy character is a combination of the two of us. We have been friends since we were seven years old (we are both old farts of 57 now!), her first and middle names are the exact same as mine, and we are exactly six months apart in age, her being the older. Ida is a ‘homage’ to our lifelong friendship.

3. Is it a series or a standalone? This is a standalone novel, but could very easily be made into a series, using all of the characters. I’ve been mullling this idea around for a while – I may try my hand at expanding on #6 after I get all of my other stories completed

Interview with DJ Doyle:

1. What is your inspiration for your novel?

I grew up hearing tales about the Banshee, they really frightened the crap out of me. There are so many stories behind the reason the Banshee existed, I wondered which one was true…so I put my own spin on the tale.

2. Who is your main character

My book is in 2 parts with the first being set in 17th Century Ireland and the main characters are Fionn and Keela. Their forbidden love starts the curse.

In the second part, Sean is the main character and discovers his son is in danger of becoming her next victim. He is a flawed character as he always doubts his actions but that’s a quality most people should be able to relate to.

3. Is it a series or a standalone?.

The story is standalone, however, I am writing a few stories all based on Irish history and mythology. I am currently writing The Celtic Curse: Newgrange which is all about paganism, human sacrifice and the anti-christ. Not dark at all, lol!!

1. What is the inspiration behind your novel?

When I first heard about the tsunami back in 2011 I knew I wanted to write something about it, however, I didn’t actually star writing it until my second trip to Japan at the beginning of this year, when I visited Sendai where this book is set and began learning more about the tsunami and how it effected people. So, to actually answer the question, it was real life events and the testimonies of survivors which inspired this story.

2. Who is your main character?

My main character is Taiyo, a young high-school student living with her Grandma in Sendai city. At first she is very naive and self-obsessed, however, we see her mature throughout the book.

3. Is it a standalone or will it be a series?

A Tangled Web is a short novella and everything ties up at the end, therefore, this book is a standalone.

Interview with Kat Gracey:

1. What was the inspiration behind Rising Storm?

I’m a big fan of witches especially shows like Charmed. Tempest discovers she is a witch but rather than having a birthright to protect the innocent she is free to do what she wants, which causes all kinds of trouble.

2. Who is your main character?

Tempest Knox, the latest in the line of Knox witches. She was mostly raised by her grandmother and was never told about her powers.

3. Is this a series or standalone?

It is a series. I am working on a sequel which picks up a few weeks after this book.

I am a big fan of this series. While zombies are part of the story, they don’t override the human element to it. There are three books altogether. The story starts with After and continues in Before. If you are a zombie fan then be sure to check this out.

Interview with Samantha Gregory:

1. What was the inspiration behind After?

I love zombie stories, but I wanted to look at what the world would look like after they had been eradicated and how it would change. There is still that fear and most countries live in poverty.

2. Who is your main character?

Jenna Deluise. She is seventeen, but she has had to grow up fast. Her dad is dead and she has to take care of her mother. She’s tough but it comes out of necessity.

3. Is this a series or standalone?

It is a series. The next book is called Before which takes the reader back to when the out break began and the third book will be called Viral, which is out next year.
